The installation of this alternator is easy, but it is important to note that it comes equipped with a smaller 1.75-inch diameter alternator pulley. As a result, it will require a slightly shorter drive belt for proper belt tension. It is not recommended for sustained use above 5,000 RPM engine speed, so it is crucial to follow the instructions for correct belt sizes and wiring. Failure to do so may result in low to no output and create extra workload for the alternator.

Unlike the OE 2-pin ECU controlled alternators, this alternator uses a more robust 4-pin style regulator. This means that there will be no extreme voltage fluctuation, as it bypasses the RVC charging system on all 2005 and newer GM truck applications. Installation is simple - just connect the included 1-wire P101 harness to a tested 12V switched source and plug in the included P103 module into the vehicle's 2-pin original alternator wiring harness.
