The 170 Amp Racing Alternator for 63-85 GM vehicles is a high-performance alternator designed to provide incredible low RPM output in a compact and durable package. This alternator is custom-built to order, with a standard build time of 2-3 weeks. The S series of 6 phase hairpin alternators are highly efficient and use less horsepower than conventional 3 phase alternators. With 12 diodes, twin rectifier plates, and outstanding airflow, these alternators offer much better durability than standard Delco based alternators, even in severe conditions.

This 170 Amp Racing Alternator comes with a 2.5" V-Pulley installed, and it also includes a 2.1" 6 rib serpentine pulley for alternate applications. The custom-designed housing directly replaces standard Delco 10DN, 10SI, and 12SI alternators on most 1963 through 1985 GM vehicles. The alternator features a side output stud and a seamless rear cover with a side output plug, allowing for better clearance from the back of the alternator to the front of the engine and creating a smooth appearance.

Installation is simple and straightforward. A single wire on the provided pigtail needs to be connected to any ignition switched 12V+ source to turn the alternator on and off with the ignition switch. All you need to do is run a properly sized positive and ground cable from the alternator to the terminals of the battery, and the alternator will work perfectly, regardless of what kind of wiring harness you have. Thanks to its compact size and standard GM mounting ears, this alternator is also suitable for many aftermarket or custom bracket installations.
